Otto Grundmann was a German painter who studied in Antwerp and Dusseldorf before coming to Boston as the first instructor of the Museum School at the Museum of Fine Arts. The influence of Vermeer on Grundmann's work can be seen in this puzzle which contrasts 19th century European decor with the American wilderness of New Hampshire's Franconia mountain range.
